The official data also show that a total of 176 people died of dengue in 2019, which is the highest official death toll in a year since 2000.

At least 119 more people were hospitalised with dengue infections in 24-hour period till 8:00am on Tuesday, taking the official tally of hospitalised dengue cases to 27,779 in 2021, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services.

Among the hospitalised patients in past 24 hours, 28 people were hospitalised in the Dhaka city and 91 in other places across the country.

The mosquito-borne disease claimed the lives of 92 people in the Dhaka city among the total official deaths this year across the country while 23,017 hospitalised cases reported in the capital city, according to the official data.
