The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a travel notice this week for Uttar Pradesh, India due to a Zika virus outbreak.

The outbreak, which started in October, has accounted for 152 cases–two thirds of the total cases reported in India.

The CDC advises:

Travelers to Uttar Pradesh should take steps to prevent mosquito bites.
Zika can also be passed through sex from a person who has Zika to his or her sex partners.
Not having sex eliminates the risk of getting Zika from sex. Using condoms can reduce the chance of getting Zika from sex.
Pregnant people should NOT travel to areas with outbreaks of Zika. CDC recommends special precautions for pregnant people, the sex partners of pregnant people, and people considering pregnancy.
